Andrew Putter was born in Cape Town 1965. Received a National Education Award in 2004 for his work in design education, and in 2007 was awarded the Spier Contemporary "- one of the largest art awards in South Africa. Putter is associated with many major collaborative projects and public art in Cape Town over the past 15 years. His art has been in numerous exhibitions, including the second Johannesburg Biennale, the Frankfurt Art Fair, and the Tenth Havana Biennial in Cuba.
